Howdy! My name is Caroline D. Broughton (License #110589) and I would like to thank you for taking the time to read a bit about me. I completed my undergraduate studies at New York University and my graduate studies in mental health and substance abuse at the University of Texas at Arlington. I additionally continue and further my education with relevant webinars, lectures, books, etc., on topics such as, queer perspectives, sex, sexuality, and gender-identity. I am a diagnosed and obnoxiously proud neurodivergent person who enjoys celebrating my differences and will gladly over-share about my latest hyper-fixation (most recently it’s been plants and trees native to the Texas Blackland Prairies).

I am honored to be working at a practice that is committed to LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent inclusivity as well as being kink-/poly-aware. As a member of the queer community, I feel very comfortable discussing topics related to sexual orientation and working with LGBQ+ populations. In my pursuit of cultural humility, I have attended courses and lectures on trans and gender-identity topics from WPATH, SMI Advisor, and other providers. I am not a member of the trans or nonbinary communities but am comfortable in my ability to provide those populations with warmth, validation, and respect.

I am also comfortable and experienced in discussing diverse sexual interests (i.e., kink, polyamory, ethical/consensual nonmonogamy, etc.) in professional and academic settings. At the moment, I am a member of the Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities (CARAS), the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

I plan to pursue an AASECT certification as well as complete my WPATH GEI certification to become a certified sex therapist and educator. To complement my Western instruction, I am also a student of Eastern healing traditions, such as: yoga & Ayurveda, zen meditation, and Usui Reiki energy work.

I am under the supervision of De’An Olson Roper, LCSW-S (License #23146).
