Tara McRae Therapy
Before coming to see me, clients are frustrated that they have not been able to find a therapeutic service that will adapt to their needs.
Their disability is being noted but their other mental health needs and life concerns are being overlooked. They would like to try individual psychotherapy but have had a hard time finding the right fit.
If this sounds like your experience, I can help.
Whether you are struggling with navigating a new diagnosis, sensory overload, anxiety and worry concerns, anger, or struggling to achieve your goals, I will work from a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy approach always adapting to your needs.
We will start by getting a clear understanding of what you are struggling with, how these struggles relate to each other and how they impact you. From there, we will set goals and develop a plan for therapy.
Are you a RSW or RSSW in Ontario looking for clinical supervision? I would love to provide you with a safe and collaborative environment for learning, growth and so that you may feel empowered to serve your clients in the best way that you can. An environment where you are given the tools to develop the autonomy to make decisions on how to best intervene with your clients. Feedback and discussion is always welcomed.
My main theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and as needed: Mindfulness, Self compassion, Adapted DBT (Skills System for adults with intellectual disabilities), Trauma Informed Care. A structural and systemic lens is always integrated into my work. A neurodiversity and social model of disability framework is also utilized.
