Ariel Shapiro - Social Worker and Therapist
I’m a neurodivergent, queer licensed clinical social worker and therapist working primarily with children, teens, and young adults (ages 8–35), as well as caregivers. My work centers neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed care that honors difference, autonomy, and relational safety.
I use creative, play-based, and body-aware approaches, drawing from narrative therapy, expressive arts, play therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic practices. I adapt therapy to the person rather than the person to the model, with attention to sensory needs, communication styles, pacing, and power.
I’m committed to anti-oppressive, culturally responsive practice and to ongoing reflection around systems, identity, and access. I value collaboration, curiosity, and integrity—and I’m especially interested in connecting with other neurodivergent practitioners for consultation, learning, and shared advocacy.
