Sanchia Fernandes - MSW, LCSW
When every day feels like a challenge, achieving your goals or even figuring out what they are can feel impossible. The coping skills you’ve been using have helped get you this far, but may no longer be serving you. Growth comes from a place of self-love and acceptance, not judgment, so I provide a safe, compassionate space for clients to process past experiences, manage the stress of their present lives, and work towards their ideal future. My work draws on strategies and principles from ACT, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness. I will meet you where you’re at and adapt my approach to fit your needs and goals.
My work is grounded in the neurodiversity perspective (which views differences in the way people think and behave as valuable rather than as something to fix) and the social model of disability (which believes that disability stems from the inaccessibility and limiting attitudes of society, rather than individual deficits). I will help you build supports in your life and advocate for your needs, while helping you cope with life’s stressors.
I strive to provide mental health care that is affirming your identity and aligned with your values. Reaching out for help is the first step. Let’s continue the journey together.
