Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist - Laura Bloom
Hi, I’m Laura. I am a gentle soul, a nature and music lover, and a person who loves creativity and connection. I was diagnosed with ADHD later in life. I’m intimately aware of its impact on relationships, work, self-esteem, and overall ability to function. I understand feeling overwhelmed and anxious with a busy and overactive mind. I get how a lifetime of messaging suggesting you’re not ‘normal’ can creep into your mind and become your own shameful inner dialogue. I like to think I have embraced my late in life ADHD diagnosis. I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I have learned many tools to not only function but thrive. And now, I love helping other adults with ADHD (or suspecting of ADHD) do the same.
I came to Toronto from the East Coast of Canada way back in 2005 for my Master’s in Social Work. Since then, I’ve practiced in various settings as a registered Social Worker, gaining diverse skills to best hep my clients.
I have a specialty in Anxiety Management, which incorporates Anxiety Release Protocol, Neuroplasticity (Brain Re-Wiring) and Mindfulness into practice. I am also trauma-informed, have additional training in Brain Basics and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and a keen interest in Compassionate Inquiry and Radical Acceptance. You may hear me draw upon the expertise of renowned folks like Dr. Gabor Maté, Dr. Brené Brown, Dr. Kristen Neff, and more.
For me, I have always been curious about the human condition. I am always seeking, growing, and learning new things that I can incorporate into my counselling practice to best help my clients. Together we can work to help you challenge unhelpful mindsets, build healthy boundaries, overcome shame, become gentler with yourself, boost your overall self-esteem, and more. Let’s get curious together, explore where your pain and suffering comes from, and develop new strategies to help you thrive. It’s your time to shine!
