Mirin Mooney - Psychotherapist & Mental Health Coach (Trauma-informed)
Mirin Mooney (she/they) is a neurodivergent-affirming and trauma-informed (CCTP) psychotherapist (IACP pre-accredited) and mental health coach, based in West Cork, Ireland, and working with clients globally. Raised in an international environment, she developed an open-minded perspective that allows her to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
Her coaching practice is influenced by alternative therapies, following a decade of extensive travels and learning from different cultures and their approaches to healing and mental health. Mirin combines nervous system regulation strategies, talk therapy, mindfulness, creative exercises, and journaling in their one-to-one work. She helps autistic and ADHD adults discover and understand their neurodivergent self, unmask, overcome stress, overwhelm, and burnout, and learn to love and express their true authentic self. By learning to work with their brain and body, instead of against them.
In her psychotherapy practice she takes a collaborative approach, regularly engaging with feedback to improve the therapeutic approach and outcomes. They draw upon a variety of modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal theory, and Person Centred Theory. This might include working with your thoughts to positively influence your emotions, establishing a healthy relationship with parts of yourself you reject, inner child healing work, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and more. At the core you are an expert in your own life. As much as possible she will enable you to find answers for yourself, yet brings in her expertise and knowledge when appropriate. She helps people with a variety of mental health issues including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, relationships, disordered eating, low self-esteem, and more.
Her personal journey with mental health began early in life, shaped by her own struggles and her discovery of mindfulness and art-based therapies, which played a crucial role in her healing. Being diagnosed as neurodivergent as an adult further deepened her understanding of herself, mental health and her ability to support clients with diverse needs.
At the heart of their philosophy is a belief in everyone’s capacity for growth and healing. They emphasizes the importance of self-compassion and healing shame as foundational steps toward mental and emotional well-being.
Mirin also offers workshops on topics such as boundaries, nervous system regulation, body image, and managing stress and anxiety. A multi-passionate individual, she also teaches mindfulness and yoga, and explores her artistic side through working with clay, inspired by her father, Stephen Pearce. Outside her professional life, Mirin enjoys an array of hobbies, from outdoor activities and gardening, to arts and crafts, or binge watching her favourite TV shows.
