Helen - Counselling with Helen
Being a later in life diagnosed Autistic/combined ADHD counsellor, I feel I can offer genuine empathy and understanding, if you’re overwhelmed, feeling isolated or struggling with life – I’ve been there.
Are you feeling misunderstood?
Lost or stuck?
Like you’re living in chaos?
Like you don’t fit in and nobody really “gets you”?
Stressed and/or burnout?
Depressed/anxious/low self-esteem?
Having work/friendship/relationship problems?
Have suicidal ideation/feel suicidal?
Wondering whether you may be Autistic/ADHD?
Or support someone who is?
Feeling overwhelmed with the thoughts of the diagnosis process, or recently diagnosed and left thinking “now what?”
I’ve felt them all too, and know first-hand how difficult & exhausting life can be, living as both an undiagnosed and diagnosed Neurodiverse adult. But it doesn’t have to stay that way, change is absolutely possible; I have experience of Neurodiversity from both sides of the fence; personal and professional.
How can I help?
I can help and support you by offering a safe, calm, relaxed, non-judgemental and confidential space for you to be authentically you. Together, we can talk through and explore whatever you are currently carrying, at your pace. There’s no pressure; I will always place you at the very centre of the therapy process and we work at the pace which is right for you. I can help you understand yourself and your situation more deeply and begin to find a way forward. I will help and empower you, to develop the right solutions for you. Feeling heard and understood can validate your emotions and experiences; I listen not just to respond, but to truly understand how life is for you.
I am so very mindful this is your space, your time and is about you, but I am also happy for you to ask me questions about my experience of being Neurodiverse (or life in general!), if you feel it may help you, along the way. I am a very open and relaxed counsellor, who is also human too, and sometimes just having someone else say “…yeah, I get that / feel that / experience that too” can be incredibly powerful.
