Carmelle Wolfson

Hi, I’m Carmelle. I believe everyone can benefit from the support of a mental health professional, and I would feel honoured for the opportunity to witness your journey of growth. Authenticity and empathy have guided my work as a therapist and social worker since 2017, particularly through my experience working with diverse and marginalized communities. As a former journalist, I see individuals as more than merely problems that need fixing—I want to ensure that you are the author of your own story. My priority is to create an environment where you feel comfortable and safe during our sessions.
I work collaboratively with adults of all ages, providing a non-judgemental space where we can explore both challenges and strengths that arise from your unique past and present experiences, identities, and traits. No one knows you better than yourself, so I take my lead from you, while incorporating a variety of evidence-based strategies and non-traditional therapies to facilitate insight and growth, depending on your particular needs and preferences. My work is grounded in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming principles, meaning that I consider how your family, school, workplace, relationships, and other social structures may be impacting you. I also value ongoing learning and feedback, both informal and formal, as a way to continually improve my ability to serve my clients’ needs.
As a queer, twice exceptional/2e (i.e., gifted and learning disabled) and highly sensitive person (HSP), I have experience and especially enjoy working with 2SLGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, gifted, and/or ‘spiky’ profile clients. At the same time, I do not work exclusively with these communities and can easily connect with people from all walks of life—during my social work career, I have supported people of many different abilities, ethnicities, cultures, religions, and class backgrounds. Most importantly, I will do my best to listen to, understand, empathize with, and support you on your journey.
If you would like to know more or have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. You can book a free 15-minute phone consultation or a session (either virtual or in-person) using the links on this page. Even if you and I are not the right fit to work together, I would be happy to help you find another therapist better suited to your needs.
