Are you considering some counselling sessions – if so I would like to offer you a warm welcome!

As a neurodivergent therapist (AuDHD) I primarily work with Neurodivergent individuals (Autism/ADHD), including children (although I do work with neurotypicals, parents and those who have autistic family members).

I have many years of personal experience and professional knowledge of Autism, ADHD and PDA (pathological demand avoidance).

Being Autistic can increase the possibility of developing very high levels of anxiety as you try to make sense of the world around you. This can feel very debilitating. Together we can discuss and explore how your autism/PDA affects you and explore ways to enable you to reduce or manage the anxiety in your life.

I am an experienced Integrative counsellor and Member of the BACP. I am qualified to degree level in both adult and child counselling and have a Post Graduate Certificate (Dist) in Autism with Sheffield University.

As a Neurodivergent therapist myself, I have extensive personal and professional experience of autism and can see both autistic adults and children. Exploring together how you experience the world and what you need to enable you to live a safe and content  life. This may include exploring incidents of the past including any previous trauma’s, exploring with you emerging research on autism relating to the impact of the sensory system on autistic individuals, alexithymia (feeling feelings) and interoception (internal feelings and senses) and autistic burnout.

I will provide you with a confidential, non judgemental and down to earth counselling experience. I am warm, welcoming and empathic and I understand that deciding to come for counselling can be a big step. I want to offer you reassurance that sessions are about you and what you need. I will explain how we can work together to enhance your life experiences enabling you to live the life you want to.

Surviving trauma (recent or non-recent) or bullying, abuse, divorce, bereavement, a diagnosis of some kind, situations or behaviour or a life event that challenges your whole perception of life can leave you with an array of different feelings that you need support to work through.

Or it could be that you might just want to feel better!

Children experience similar emotions which impact them the same as adults, however they may not yet have the verbal or cognitive ability to describe how they feel. It can be really tough to see your child having a tough time when all you want is them to be OK. I can work with your child to help them process how they. are feeling

Talking about these things can really help to someone who really listens.

I work alongside Laura Kerbey of PAST (www.p-ast.co.uk), have participated on a board for traumatised autistic women and provide training for organisations who are wanting to improve their knowledge and support for their ND employees and colleagues.
