Maia - embodied, equity-centred & neuro-inclusive coaching
My practice
I offer coaching and training for people and teams who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed or burnt out. My practice is lived-experience informed, neuro-inclusive, equity centred and rooted in disability justice principles (authored by Sins Invalid).
I welcome people of all neuro-types wishing to create a life that works for their unique body-mind. I welcome organisations who are seeking to embody new practices and processes that support all beings to thrive.
Sessions involve slowing down to welcome the body, its signals and sensations and emotions. I start by inviting you to share your intention for the session, our North Star for the conversation. We then collaborate to explore the topic through questions that help you work through stuck-ness. We might notice patterns, systemic factors, assumptions, beliefs and elevate values, strengths, resources, embodied wisdoms and options ahead of you. The process supports you to leave with a way forward that is aligned with your authentic self.
About me
I have spent most of my adult life cycling through long periods of fatigue, burnout and overwhelm. Each episode had me seeking new self awareness, strategies and ways to improve myself in order to function ‘normally’. Thankfully, as Gabor Maté writes; ‘the body is the wisest teacher’ and my disembodied approach to life was halted by chronic fatigue that grounded me for 2 years. In 2022 my worldview shifted after recovering in 9 weeks through receiving coaching and teachings about psychoneuroimmunology from Alice Bowley, a mind-body coach who used the Mind-Body Reconnect technique.
This experience led me to continue learning about the nervous system, somatics, psychology and how the systems we live under have defined ‘normalcy’ to exclude, devalue and control our powerful sensitivities. As a late-diagnosed AuDHD woman, I am now acutely aware of the cost of overriding the body-mind to achieve and survive in systems that are designed for neuro-‘typical’ standards. I’ve found coaching and training spaces some of the most transformative, liberatory and life-affirming experiences along this journey. I love to commune with others traversing their own paths of embodied self-discovery and actualisation.
