Reed - Trauma trained somatic counsellor
I’m Reed. My pronouns are they/them. I am offering remote sessions only.
As a trauma trained somatic care worker, I include a blend of coaching and counselling to provide a human, relational and body-led approach to healing. I am passionate about disability and trans* justice and include liberatory informed practises in all that I do.
‘Soma’ means the body. Somatic therapy is a bottom-up approach that focuses on the physical sensations and feelings in your body. This approach often works well in place of more traditional talking therapies, particularly for those of us who find it more challenging to put emotions into words.
Perhaps you’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t feel like the right fit. Perhaps you needed something more personal, relational and genuine.
In our sessions, we work slowly and collaboratively, paying attention to what is happening in your body as well as your thoughts and emotions. This might include noticing sensations, exploring patterns, and gently building your capacity to stay with your experience without overwhelm. There is no pressure to perform or “fix” anything, this is a space to listen, feel, and make sense of your inner world at your own pace.
Over time, this process can support you to feel more at home in your body, better understand your emotional landscape, and move through life with more steadiness and self-trust.
Both my professional background and lived experience have shaped this approach. I am autistic and live with C-PTSD, and I navigate the world as a transgender, non-binary person. I have experience supporting people with and without formal diagnoses, including neurodivergence, chronic fatigue, EDS, anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
