Rachel M. Feldman, LCSW, ADHD-CCSP
I’m Rachel Feldman, a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Psychotheraplay, a neurodiversity-affirming private practice based in Englewood, New Jersey. I see clients in person in Englewood and online across New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maine, Florida and Minnesota.
I have been practicing for over a decade. I hold an MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work and am a certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) and PDA Level 2 Provider. I serve on the advisory board of the Bergen County chapter of CHADD and on CHADD’s National Board of Directors, co-chair CHADD’s Development Committee, and sit on CHADD’s Editorial Advisory Board for Attention Magazine. I am a member of the PDA Collective run by Elise Jacobson, LICSW, and I present on AuDHD and PDA at conferences and community events.
I work with ADHD, Autistic and AuDHD people across the lifespan, and with the parents and families who support them. Many of my clients are adults who learned they were neurodivergent later in life and are making sense of years of burnout and masking. I also work with children and teens with a PDA profile, and with parents who are exhausted by approaches that never fit their child.
I can help with burnout, shame, emotional regulation, sensory needs, executive function, demand sensitivity, relationships and self-advocacy. I also offer comprehensive diagnostic assessments for ADHD, autism and AuDHD.
If you work with me, you can expect a first session that is mostly about getting to know you and what you want from therapy. The first session and consultations are 60 minutes, and ongoing sessions are 45 minutes. You do not need to make eye contact, you can keep your camera off on telehealth, you can move, stim or fidget, and you can take as long as you need to answer. We go at your pace, and I will not ask you to do anything that requires masking. My work draws on neuro-affirming psychotherapy, DBT, DIR/Floortime, PDA-informed practice, polyvagal theory and sensory-motor approaches, adapted to you rather than the other way around.
Something you may want to know in advance: I completed an Advanced Certificate in ABA at Hunter College, and I take seriously the Autistic community’s concerns about its history of harm. I chose not to pursue BCBA certification. I use behavioral concepts only to help understand the why behind a behavior, never to pathologize it or “fix” it.
