My name is Brittney McLaughlin, MS, AMFT #143227 I am supervised by Yvonne Olivio, LMFT #113460 and work at the Brown Therapy Group. I offer Neurodivergent affirming therapy online in CA. Do you feel constantly overwhelmed and exhausted? Do you struggle with tasks? Do you experience a lot of anxiety and depression? Sometimes this can come from pressure to conform in ways that don’t align with who you are or allow you to meet your own needs. Masking is the process of consciously or unconsciously hiding or suppressing your natural thoughts, behaviors, or traits in order to fit in, meet expectations, or avoid judgment. It is especially common in neurodivergent people and can help with social acceptance or safety in the short term, but over time it can lead to exhaustion, anxiety, loss of identity, and burnout.
A safe space to learn and practice vulnerability, unmasking, authenticity, identifying and honoring your needs, building healthy and authentic relationships, setting boundaries, processing trauma, and developing skills while tailoring solutions to your unique experiences and goals.
I specialize in neurodivergent affirming therapy. I view differences such as ASD and ADHD as natural human variations, not deficits to be fixed. We focus on acceptance, meeting needs, reducing pressure to conform, self-advocacy, accommodations, and authenticity. Neurodiversity enriches our world, and deserves celebration, accommodations and support.
