Molly Toomey, LCSW | Two Torches Therapy | Neuro-Affirming, Queer- & Trans-Affirming Therapy (CT, VT, ID) & Coaching (nationwide)
Are you navigating big feelings, big questions, or big life transitions? Struggling to make sense of who you are or what you want, or to move forward from a painful past?
Maybe you’re weighed down by the anxiety, the overwhelm, the disconnection and isolation. Yearning to feel safe, secure, accepted, and loved by others (and yourself). Maybe you’re ready to “do the work”, to get un-stuck and move toward feeling better, but whatever you’ve tried hasn’t helped—or you don’t even know where to begin.
Add in the challenges of neurodivergence, whether officially diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or suspected.
On top of it all, you’re done with feeling unseen, misunderstood, or judged by therapists for who you are and how you live and love.
If this is you, I warmly welcome you to Two Torches Therapy: a space for all those who don’t fit neatly into society’s norms of thinking, feeling, acting, desiring, connecting.

WHO I AM & WHO I SERVE
I’m Molly Toomey, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering online psychotherapy for folks in Connecticut, Vermont, and Idaho, as well as non-clinical coaching to people nationwide. My mission is to provide affirming, accessible, trauma-informed mental health support to folks who think differently and live or love outside the mainstream—and who often feel unseen or misunderstood in traditional therapy settings. I specialize in individual therapy for neurodivergent folks (autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, bipolar and beyond!), LGBTQIA+ communities, spiritually alternative folks, and others who think, live, and love outside the box.
My typical client is someone who lives life outside the box in different ways. Perhaps you have multiple flavors of neurodivergence (e.g., AuDHD, or bipolar + complex trauma). You may be neurodivergent with alternative lifestyle practices or relationship models, from kink/BDSM to non-monogamy practices like polyamory, open relationships, or relationship anarchy. Or you might be neurodivergent as well as spiritually alternative or part of a subculture (witchy woo folks and goths/the darkly inclined are warmly welcome!). Many of my clients are explorers, status quo questioners, or just folks who have always felt a little different or alien and are looking for a safer space to explore, learn, make mistakes, heal, and grow.

MY PROFESSIONAL & LIVED EXPERIENCES
I’ve been in the business of helping people since 2010 through clinical social work, psychotherapy, coaching, community justice work, and sex education. I honed my therapy skills through an intensive clinical master’s program focusing on trauma-informed psychotherapy with folks with marginalized identities. Since then, I have spent years focused on making comprehensive mental health services more accessible and relatable for people who would otherwise not be able to access care or who had had negative experiences with helping systems. I came from those communities myself and I remain dedicated to them.
In addition to my years of experience and training, my lived experiences as a queer, neurodivergent person who’s found their place in “alternative” communities and relationship models have shown me personally how transformative it is to be deeply understood and connected, and what a relief it is to not have to justify or explain yourself to your provider.

MY APPROACH
My approach is based on relational and psychodynamic theory and radically affirming, trauma-informed care. This approach combines old-school and new-school therapeutic approaches with a social justice-oriented, systemic lens so that ALL aspects of you can be seen and supported: the psychological, biological, social, relational, spiritual. This means that work with me involves vulnerability, authenticity, collaboration, and really showing up—both counselor and client!
So what is a “relational” approach? This doesn’t mean couples’ therapy here—it means healing through connection. What was hurt in relationship, heals in relationship, and that’s what this approach is all about! It starts with building a genuine, trusting alliance with me where you feel safe enough to dig into the tough stuff at your own pace. We’ll explore past and present relationships and build a blueprint for safety and more fulfilling relationships with others and with yourself—starting in the here-and-now, in the therapy room. Read more about this unique approach here: https://twotorchestherapy.com/#relational
With me, you can expect a warm, supportive environment, acceptance and affirmation, and a therapist who shows up more fully than traditional or old-school therapists. Laughter, cursing, tears, bad hair days—all feelings are welcome.
