Melissa Reid, LCPC
I work with neurodivergent adults, especially ADHDers and autistic clients, and people who feel like they’re functioning on the outside but internally it doesn’t really match what’s going on, often alongside OCD traits, anxiety, trauma histories, burnout, and chronic illness.
A lot of the time people come in saying it feels like they’ve been holding way too much for way too long without really having space to put it down, or even fully register what it’s been like to carry it.
Most of the people I work with are sensitive, thoughtful and self aware, and they’ve usually already been trying to make sense of things for a while. Therapy tends to become a space where we can slow things down a bit, and start to gently get underneath patterns like overthinking, masking, shutdown, or this kind of ongoing exhaustion that comes from trying to manage everything internally.
My approach is collaborative and trauma informed. I pay attention to how your nervous system is responding in real life, emotionally, cognitively, sometimes sensory wise, and what tends to keep things stuck or harder to shift than they feel like they “should” be.
I integrate EMDR, somatic awareness, and parts work, along with practical strategies when they fit. We always move at a pace that feels grounded and manageable, and try to stay close to what feels tolerable rather than pushing past it too quickly.
More than anything I try to create a space where you don’t have to mask or perform or have it all figured out. Just a space where we can work with what’s actually happening in a way that feels steady, human, and supportive over time.
