Caitlin Lewis, Humanistic and EMDR Psychotherapist, MIAHIP
Hi there! I am a humanistic, integrative and EMDR psychotherapist based in Killaloe, County Clare, Ireland. I am accredited with the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP). I am also a member of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP).
I welcome and support clients who are neurodiverse, or who are exploring the possibility of neurodiversity – whatever stage of that process you find yourself in. I was late diagnosed with ADHD myself at age 39. I am continually learning more about neurodiversity to help my clients.
My approach is deeply person-centred, in that I am led by what works for each individual client and I focus on empathy and genuineness. I start where each client is at and work to build an effective therapeutic relationship. Depending on what each client is bringing and how they respond, I integrate other therapeutic modalities that I have been trained in (e.g. parts work, mindfulness).
I find Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) can be an effective modality for working with trauma, adversity and difficult emotions. I trained in EMDR levels 1, 2 and 3 with Jamie Marich via the Institute for Creative Mindfulness in 2023. Since then I have been integrating relational and affect-focused EMDR into my practice.
I welcome and work with whatever my clients wish to bring to therapy. I have a special interest in grief and loss, dissociation, trauma/complex trauma, and supporting adults in their recovery from childhood abuse and neglect.
I welcome clients of all backgrounds, and I am a LGBTQIA+ affirming and inclusive practitioner. I take a human rights approach to all my work.
If you are interested in psychotherapy with me, avail of my offer to meet for a free initial 20 minute consultation. This is an important first step to see if I am the right therapist for you.
