Helen Hoyte, Neurodivergent-Affirming Counsellor, Therapeutic Coach & Clinical Supervisor

I am a neurodivergent-affirming counsellor, therapeutic coach and clinical supervisor specialising in working with ADHD, Autistic and AuDHD adults. I bring lived experience of neurodivergence alongside my professional training and experience.
Many of the people who come to me have spent years feeling different, misunderstood or as though they should be coping better. Some have been identified later in life, while others are exploring whether neurodivergence may help them understand themselves. You do not need a formal diagnosis to work with me.
I support people experiencing burnout, overwhelm, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, rejection sensitivity, executive functioning difficulties, masking, shame and loss of identity. We may also explore relationships, grief, trauma, life transitions and the impact of living in environments that have not recognised or accommodated your needs.
My approach is relational, compassionate and collaborative. I do not see neurodivergence as something that needs to be fixed or cured. Instead, we work together to understand your nervous system, recognise your needs and develop ways of living that feel more sustainable and authentic.
I integrate counselling, therapeutic coaching and somatic work. This means that we can explore your experiences and emotions while also paying attention to what is happening in your body. Where helpful, I offer practical scaffolding around planning, task initiation, boundaries, communication and creating supportive routines.
Sessions are adapted to you. You are welcome to move, fidget, look away, pause, use notes or take additional processing time. There is no expectation to make eye contact, communicate in a particular way or arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about. We can use conversation, visual resources, creative exploration and practical exercises according to what works best for you.
At the heart of my work is helping people move away from self-blame and towards greater self-understanding, self-compassion and confidence. Together, we can make sense of your experiences, reconnect with who you are beneath the masking and build a life that works with your neurodivergence rather than against it.
