Counsellor / Trainee in psychotherapy
I know how hard it can be to find a therapist, particularly as a neurodivergent person. I’m happy to book in a free chat to talk through what you’re hoping to find in therapy. Here is a bit about my approach.
You may have spent years masking, adapting, and editing yourself to fit a world that wasn’t built for you.
Therapy with me is a space to stop pretending. It is a space to start understanding who you are and how to make it easier to be you.
I believe that the only things wrong with the autistic experience are the impossible expectations we’ve been handed.
That includes in therapy. Most therapies – and therapists – work on the assumption that the client has an average, neurotypical mind. Therapy can therefore leave autistic and AuDHD people feeling like they’re not very good at therapy, or that it’s made no change, or at worst – it can actively harm us.
I offer “neuroaffirming” therapy. I start from the premise that your brain processes the world in an autistic way. That is a difference, not a deficit. Therapy isn’t the task of making you fit into the world. It is to help you understand yourself more clearly, and shape your life in a way that works for you.
Whether you’re autistic or AuDHD, with or without a “diagnosis” – feel free to contact me for a free consultation to see if I’m the right fit for you. I’d love to hear about what you’re going through and what you’re hoping to find in a therapist.
