Counselling with Charlie
I provide affirming counselling and psychotherapy for neurodivergent and LGBTQ+/queer individuals, especially non-binary and trans people. As a neurodivergent trans person myself, I am passionate about offering non-pathologising support to my communities, knowing how often we are underserved and misunderstood by mainstream mental health services. Perhaps you want to explore challenges specifically related to being neurodivergent and/or LGBTQ+, or perhaps you simply want a therapist who understands some of your personal and cultural context. In any case, I work collaboratively and relationally with my clients to help them explore their challenges, experiences, and emotions. I do not see myself as the expert who will give you the answers to your problems; rather, I see myself as someone who will work alongside you to help you find your own answers.
I am interested in the intersections of societal oppression and mental health and strive to work in an anti-oppressive way. I work to facilitate a therapeutic relationship in which my clients feel comfortable challenging and questioning me while being mindful of the inherent power dynamics in therapy.
I offer sessions in-person in Leith, Edinburgh, as well as online. Please contact me for a free 15-minute phone or online video consultation to see if I might be the right fit for you.
