Christy Schmidt, Occupational Therapist
I’m an occupational therapist and the founder of Lakeshore Affirmative Therapy, a neurodiversity-affirming occupational therapy practice serving children, teens, and adults throughout Illinois.
I work with Autistic, ADHD, PDA, and otherwise neurodivergent individuals who want support navigating daily life in ways that honor who they are. Together, we identify the barriers making everyday activities difficult and develop practical, individualized strategies that fit your life, values, strengths, and needs.
Common areas we address include executive functioning, sensory processing, self-care, meal preparation, work and school participation, emotional regulation, burnout, transitions, routines, and creating environments that better support the life you want to live. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and grounded in current neurodiversity-affirming practice, with the goal of helping you participate more fully in the occupations that matter most to you.
