Welcome

Neurodivergent Practitioners is a directory built by and for neurodivergent people. If your own neurodivergence shapes how you practise, this is a place where that experience is seen, named, and valued.

People come here looking for support from someone who understands from the inside, and being listed puts you in front of them. Every listed practitioner shares the same commitments to neuroaffirming practice, so the people who find you know what to expect.

If you self-identify as neurodivergent and share the commitments below, we’d love to welcome you.

Who can list

If you self-identify as neurodivergent and agree to our shared commitments below, you’re welcome to list here. We’re committed to equity, and we understand the barriers that can stand between people, their work, and formal recognition. Lived experience, peer support, and community-based practice carry real value of their own, and they belong here alongside formal professional pathways, not beneath them. Verification is an optional extra step, explained further down.

What being listed means

Being listed is a practitioner’s public commitment to the principles below. It is not an endorsement, a certification, or a guarantee of competence. There are two parts to a listing:

  • The commitment: every listed practitioner agrees to our shared commitments. This is the condition of being listed.
  • The verified badge: a separate, optional step. It confirms that we’ve checked a practitioner’s professional registration or insurance.

You can be listed whether or not you carry the verified badge.

Our Shared Commitments

To help build trust and transparency for the people who find you here, every listed practitioner makes a public commitment to a shared set of neuroaffirming principles.

As a listed practitioner, I commit to:

  1. Practise inclusively: I am actively anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ affirmative, and informed by an understanding of intersectionality.
  2. Presume competence: I place no limit on what a neurodivergent person can do, learn, communicate, or become.
  3. Support autonomy and self-determination: I support each person to define their own goals, needs, and identity, rather than shaping them towards compliance or a version of themselves that others find easier.
  4. Meet people in their own communication: including AAC and non-speaking communication. I do not require masking or conformity in order to access support.
  5. Honour neurodivergence as a valid way of being: I recognise neurodivergence as a natural part of human diversity, not something to be fixed, cured, or overcome.
  6. Recognise my own access needs and limitations: I communicate honestly about the support I can offer and acknowledge when another practitioner may be a better fit.
  7. Continue learning: I draw on my own lived experience while continuing to learn through community knowledge, reflective practice, and professional development led by neurodivergent perspectives.

Listing Requirements

Alongside our shared commitments, every listing must meet these clear content rules. Neurodivergent Practitioners does not accept listings that promote:

  • ABA or other compliance-based approaches that seek to suppress, correct, or mask neurodivergent ways of being.
  • Cure, recovery, or “overcoming” narratives relating to neurodivergence.
  • Pathologising language or marketing that frames neurodivergent people as broken, deficient, or less capable.
  • Practices or messaging that fundamentally contradict the values and commitments of the directory.

Listings that do not meet these requirements may be declined or removed.

Our language guide explains the words we use across the directory and the thinking behind them. If you’re unsure how to word something, start there.

How to get listed and verified

There are two steps: create your listing, then, if you’d like the verified badge, confirm your credentials.

Step 1: Create your listing

You create your listing on the directory and agree to the shared commitments above. Once we’ve reviewed it for fit with our values, it goes live, usually within 24–48 hours. We review new listings five days a week, and we’ll only come back to you if we have a question.

Step 2: Get verified (optional)

The Verified by Neurodivergent Practitioners badge is an optional extra step that lets the people seeking support know you carry relevant professional insurance and/or are registered with a professional body whose register we can check. It’s a simple way to build trust before someone reaches out. There are two ways to verify, and both lead to the same badge. Choose whichever fits you.

To get verified, fill in the Get Verified form with the details for whichever route fits you below. You will need to be logged in to your practitioner account.

Path A: Public register (no documents to send). If you’re registered with a professional or regulatory body that has a public register, wherever in the world you practise, you can verify this way. Send us a link to that register, ideally a direct link to your own entry, along with your name and your registration or membership number. Please check that your entry can be found by searching the register publicly. We’ll confirm that your registration is in your name, current, and free of restrictions. If we’re not able to verify you this way, you’re welcome to verify through professional insurance instead.

Path B: Insurance certificate (one document). If your body isn’t one we can check, or you’ve chosen not to join one, you can verify through your professional insurance instead. You send us one current professional insurance certificate, and a member of our team confirms it. Your certificate is stored securely and is never published. We keep it until we have verified you, then delete it within 30 days.

What happens after you submit. We’ll confirm we’ve received your verification details straight away. Verification runs separately from your listing: we currently check registers weekly, so the badge can take a little longer, and insurance checks can take longer again. Either way, we’ll keep you posted.

If you’re not on a professional register

We welcome practitioners who aren’t formally registered alongside those who are. Some routes to registration are costly, and some aren’t open to every kind of practitioner.

If you’re not on a professional register, professional insurance is your route to the verified badge, and it protects both you and the people you work with. Send us your current certificate and a member of our team will confirm it.

A verified badge provides additional information. It is not a measure of a practitioner’s worth, and the absence of a badge should not be taken as a sign that someone is less trustworthy or less capable. Practitioners without a verified badge may still hold professional registrations, memberships, qualifications, or insurance. It simply means these haven’t been independently verified by us.

Scope & Accountability

Neurodivergent Practitioners is a directory. It is not an accrediting, licensing, or regulatory body.

A listing is a practitioner’s public commitment to equitable, neuroaffirming practice. It is not an endorsement, a certification, or a guarantee of competence.

We review the information submitted as part of a listing. We do not investigate complaints, settle disputes, monitor practitioners, or determine misconduct.

Practitioners are expected to maintain good standing with any relevant professional, registration, or regulatory body.

We reserve the right to decline or remove a listing whose content crosses the Listing Requirements, or where a practitioner loses relevant professional standing.
