Libby Banks - LPC, LCDC
As an autistic person, my treatment is embedded in a philosophy of affirming care that respects neurodiversity and differences. I have an affinity for providing services to LGBTQ+ teens. I work collaboratively to figure out each individual’s goals and treatment needs. My clients have often felt misunderstood, unseen, marginalized, and/or have experienced challenges with substance use. In our work together, I seek to provide clients with an experience of repair: if I don’t understand, I will clarify and try harder. If I mess up, I will apologize. More than anything, I will always do my best to see the person sitting in front of me.
I have six years of counseling experience and have expertise in the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety, grief and loss, and substance use disorders. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a licensed chemical dependency counselor (LCDC) and have extensive experience in providing clients with support in medication assisted treatment programs.
Therapy allows us to do “safe experiments.” You can say things in therapy that you might not be able to say to someone in your personal life because the stakes are different. Therapy can be a wonderful place for exploration and self-discovery. If you find yourself curious about taking this step, don’t hesitate to reach out.
