I am honored to continue helping many late-diagnosed autistics on their journey of self-discovery and advocacy as they liberate themselves from the daily weight of shape shifting around non-autistic myths, stereotypes and expectations.
Most recently, I’ve been concentrating my efforts on autistic adolescents (12 through 17 years of age), because I believe that earlier support can help ease the build-up of pressure and burnout that I witness in so many adult autistics.
The teen years can be especially challenging for autistics as they experience the routine stages of adolescence, but at a heightened level on account of sensitivities towards transitions, sensory needs, ableism and their desire to “fit in” and formulate their unique sense of Self. My area of focus continues to be those concerns associated with high masking, potential burnout and late diagnosis or onset of symptoms associated with regulation and connection from an attachment and trauma-based perspective.

This may include, but is not limited to:

• Self-awareness
• Managing expectations
• Improved executive-functioning
• Self-advocacy
• Independence/autonomy
• Achieving the goals autistics would like to achieve
• Making and maintaining friends and relationships
• Identity exploration
• Boundaries
• Developing systems to accomplish tasks
• Self-understanding
• Personal care and health routines
• Defining values and priorities
• Coping with emotions
• Peer expectations and exploration
• Managing moods/emotional processing
• Motivation
• Building and maintaining emotional connections

My Approach
I come from an autistic family and am autistic myself. I’m not inclined towards romanticizing autism any more than I feel the need to put my eye color on a pedestal. It’s part of who I am. I don’t exist to fit the norms of strangers or those who do not value my existence. That said, I recognize that there are vastly different experiences of autism and do not wish to negate those who experience co-occurring medical conditions and other experiences that are challenging for autistics and their families.
There is indeed much diversity among autistics even as there are similarities that define us as “autistic.” I recognize my limitations in supporting those with severe medical challenges beyond my scope of practice and encourage consultation prior to engaging in treatment.
I tend towards bottom-up interventions versus cognitive approaches with respect to healing. I provide a space for autistics to be heard and find their voice. I’m inclined towards normalization of autistic experience, acceptance of autistic identity and expression of superpowers.
I am an independently Licensed Clinical Social Worker and currently accepting primarily Telehealth clients in Arizona. I am available for in person therapy on a limited basis. I will see Autistic adults, parents, families and couples for coaching out of state or internationally.
