Sophie Broadbent - Therapy Outside in Nature, Brighton & Hove, UK
Hello. I’m Sophie. I am a creative and thoughtful therapist, working outdoors in nature, and also indoors – in Brighton & Hove, UK. I offer an open and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. At your pace, and in a way that fits your unique needs.
I have a professional background of over 20 years in TV production and more recently, carbon literacy education. I qualified as a counsellor in 2022. I have a personal interest in highly sensitive people, neurodiversity, and working with people who are exploring what that means to them.
I acknowledge the climate and ecological emergency and how many issues are intertwined with this: inclusion, colonialism, justice, intersectionality and historical trauma. Sensitivity. Neurodiversity. And a collective deep need for healing, grounding, and connection with the world around us.
My Therapeutic Approach
I am a registered member with the BACP and adhere to their Ethical Framework. My therapeutic counselling work is integrative, which means it draws from many theories including: humanistic, person-centred, psychodynamic, transactional analysis and gestalt. I’m also interested in trauma, EMDR, bodywork, family constellations, hypnotherapy, and how complimentary therapies and exercise such as acupuncture, dance, swimming and walking can help the body, mind and spirit.
I will work with you to explore what you want from therapy. It could be a simple space to gather your thoughts, room to look at key points in your past, or reflection on patterns in your present day. I can help you practise skills for relaxation and self-connection, and consider where you are.
