Emily Rush McClintock - LMHC-D
Great to meet you!
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who specializes in Queer and Neurodivergent care. In addition to my degrees in Mental Health Counseling and Sexuality, I’m also a Queer ADHDer and I bring that understanding and experience into our work together.
My approach to therapy:
The core of my approach is the belief that connection and understanding are the first step to healing. That is our starting point. From there our work focuses on making your life functional for you. If you’re an ADHDer, we’ll also be talking about the ways our brains work differently, and how to work with our brain not against it.
What you can expect in our first few sessions:
The beginning of our work together is about getting to know you, what matters to you, your history, and what’s happening now in your life. Practically, this means I’m going to ask you a lot of questions. But don’t worry, I’ll adjust my questions based on how easy it is for you to answer them. If you don’t like questions, I’ll try to limit this as much as possible.
We’ll use these discussions to identify goals for our work together. This may be general like ‘stop feeling depressed,’ or very specific like ‘establish a bedtime.’ As we continue our work, we’ll use these goals to guide our future sessions.
