Ella - Creative Psychotherapist
Hi, I’m Ella, a creative psychotherapist specialising in neuro-affirming therapy for adults.
I offer a thoughtful, collaborative approach to psychotherapy, drawing on existential, person-centred and creative perspectives. I specialise in psychotherapy for autistic people, but the way I work is supportive of neurodivergent people more broadly (diagnosis or not), as we centre your experience of the world, without need for correcting things or conforming to ‘typical’ ways of being.
In practice, we’ll work on creating a space where you can navigate your inner world at your own pace. We might explore questions of authenticity and meaning, or look at building up your self-trust, sense of purpose, or intuition – all things which can suffer in a society not yet truly embracing of difference. We might work to shift ideas that parts of you need ‘fixing’ – maybe your distress is completely in proportion to how you feel, and maybe your divergence is a crucial part of the human story.
I have a special interest in bringing creativity into therapy, and am currently completing a Master’s research project in this area. Some people can find creativity especially helpful as it can give us an alternate language to explore our thoughts and feelings with. If words are hard to find or you’re feeling stuck, we might try using image, colour or writing to express ourselves instead. How big or small a role this plays in therapy is up to you, and no previous creative experience is necessary at all – just an openness to what might emerge. It’s about the process, rather than the end product.
I’m currently working online, and provide a free 20 minute initial video consultation to discuss what’s brought you to therapy. It’s also a chance for you to see if my way of working feels right for you and to ask any questions you might have. New enquires are very welcome, please get in touch if you’d like to know more about working together ☺︎
